Elijah Noels III

BIO

Elijah Noels III was born in 1998 in Silver Spring, MD. He recently graduated from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, and received his BFA in Painting with Entrepreneurial Studies, May 2020. He spends his free time writing, sewing, and listening to music; elements of which can be seen within his work.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Within my paintings I use the language of clothing and fabric combined with the immediateness of the written word to create the feeling of anxiety and emotional weight, as well as thematic elements of reflectivity and body power relationships. My work thus far has consisted of oil figure paintings within large vast spaces accompanied by text to produce this sensation and has since shifted to a focus on materiality and form defined by itself, acting as a replacement to the subjects `body’ in the artwork.
